After recieving a nice pass, Greenpig's Hortêncio Nunes tried to score from far away in the 39th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Greenpig's Charles Freitas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Greenpig from getting a goal against them. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dedê Alagoano was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Confiança F.C booed when Greenpig was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Naldo Xavier didn't get a good kick on the ball. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 58 played minutes Greenpig got a freekick which was hit by Claudinho de Azevedo. In the 61st match minute, Greenpig was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cláudio Fontes to maneuver through the defense. When Carlinhos Bittencourt came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Confiança F.C fans jumped to their feet. Nilmar Carvalho was shown his second yellow card after 74 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Greenpig's Nilmar Carvalho got a free kick in the 75th minute. After 76 played minutes Greenpig got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Falcão. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Greenpig eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
