Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arlindo Quadros came out of the goal and José Pedro Toledo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 78th minute, Víktor de Azevedo fired a really elegant long shot, but Arlindo Quadros threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. In the 85th minute, Michael Laudrup hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 95th minute Tostão Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armandinho Lago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Pedro Toledo took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arlindo Quadros. Arlindo Quadros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Carapicuíba FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
