But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wágner Lago couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fabinho Trevisan got free with Paulo Renato de Brito in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Caricaca getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Augusto Varela hit a great ball. João Augusto Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Renato de Brito having to interfere. Fred Breckenfeld's late challenge caught a Luziania SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
