Caripi AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave cuiabá the free kick. A collision led to Caripi AD getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Nilson de Mendonça hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Augusto Velasco in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg 沈德誉 saved Caripi AD from getting behind. 沈德誉 stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Augusto Velasco's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. After some careless play in the Caripi AD defense, José Augusto Velasco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of 沈德誉. The Caripi AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that 沈德誉 should have stopped the shot. Fabiano Guerra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Osvaldinho de Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, José Augusto Velasco notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Caripi AD's 沈德誉. 沈德誉 was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 40 minutes into the match, Caripi AD's goal looked a bit too open when Décio Paraíba came free, but 沈德誉 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Delfim Vaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Augusto Velasco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 沈德誉 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldinho de Amorim in the 52nd minute of play. Caripi AD's 沈德誉 proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Caripi AD from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Caripi AD getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Aníbal Palmeira hit a great ball. 66 minutes into the match, Caripi AD's goal looked a bit too open when José Augusto Velasco came free, but 沈德誉 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When César Vasconcelos fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored cuiabá's protests and gave César Vasconcelos a yellow card for diving instead. In the 71st minute there was a penalty for Caripi AD.
