Donato Fernandez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sidney Guerra having to make a save. Emílio Berger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Olavo Vianna made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Cláudio de Amaral sent off a good shot on target. 10 minutes into the game, Donato Fernandez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. JARDIM GUANABARA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ATREVIDOS F.C the free kick. The supporters of ATREVIDOS F.C booed when JARDIM GUANABARA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donato Fernandez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th match minute, ATREVIDOS F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Augusto da Silva to maneuver through the defense. In the 16th minute Luís Fernando Alagoano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olavo Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. JARDIM GUANABARA's Donato Fernandez got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luís Fernando Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olavo Vianna having to interfere. José Augusto Freitas kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. A collision led to JARDIM GUANABARA getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Chico Reis hit a great ball. Tomé Botelho kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. JARDIM GUANABARA's Marcus Tavares got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Glauco Toscano in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sidney Guerra prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sidney Guerra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Glauco Toscano's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Marcus Tavares struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Sidney Guerra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for JARDIM GUANABARA. 41 minutes into the match, ATREVIDOS F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Emílio Berger came free, but Sidney Guerra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in JARDIM GUANABARA fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! The referee gave ATREVIDOS F.C a penalty, 44 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by José Augusto Freitas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of JARDIM GUANABARA's Olavo Vianna. 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Glauco Toscano made the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as JARDIM GUANABARA's Glauco Toscano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sidney Guerra. That made the score 1-1 after 52 minutes of play. Cláudio de Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Olavo Vianna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 67 minutes in the game, Donato Fernandez fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Sidney Guerra having to interfere. Marcus Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Sidney Guerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, JARDIM GUANABARA's Donato Fernandez dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Olavo Vianna didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cláudio de Amaral went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Marcus Tavares might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sidney Guerra. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcus Tavares ran back to his position shaking his head. 84 minutes into the match, ATREVIDOS F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus Tavares came free, but Sidney Guerra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 85th match minute, JARDIM GUANABARA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chico Reis to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emílio Berger in the 89th minute of play forced ATREVIDOS F.C's goalkeeper Sidney Guerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emílio Berger's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sidney Guerra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Luís Fernando Alagoano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Tomé Botelho fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ATREVIDOS F.C's protests and gave Tomé Botelho a yellow card for diving instead. Despite being the better team, JARDIM GUANABARA failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
