Ernani Baiano's late challenge caught a Dortmund's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ernani Baiano helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Ossuna getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Ernani Baiano hit a great ball. Luís Guilherme Paulista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edvaldo Ribeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. With an all-out effort, Ossuna's Tomé Hoffmann threw himself towards the right post 21 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Agnaldo de Souza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 25 minutes into the match, Dortmund's goalkeeper Tomé Hoffmann had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rafinha Nascimento. Luís Guilherme Paulista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edvaldo Ribeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Eliézer Ortiz fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After a rather tough play, Dortmund's Durvalino Motta got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 47th minute, Arthur Capixaba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dortmund's Tomé Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agnaldo de Souza in the 48th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The supporters of Dortmund booed when Ossuna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Velloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Téo Ferraz was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 53rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 73rd minute, Rafinha Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luís Guilherme Paulista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edvaldo Ribeiro in the 79th minute of the match. Rafinha Nascimento might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tomé Hoffmann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rafinha Nascimento ran back to his position shaking his head. Tomé Hoffmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agnaldo de Souza in the 83rd minute of the match. 86 minutes into the match, Ossuna's goal looked a bit too open when Edvaldo Ribeiro came free, but Luís Guilherme Paulista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th play minute Reinaldo Linhares came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Luís Guilherme Paulista. 1-1. The audience was convinced that Rafinha Nascimento's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tomé Hoffmann was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Ossuna were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
