When Chico Furlan fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palestriscos's protests and gave Chico Furlan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 11th match minute, Palestriscos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chico Furlan to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Elivélton Trevisan took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Ademar Vaz to make any attempt to save it. After having played for 20 minutes, Sandrinho Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palestriscos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandrinho Simões was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elivélton Trevisan in the 22nd minute of play forced São Paulo FC's goalkeeper Ademar Vaz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elivélton Trevisan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ademar Vaz having to interfere. When the match clock showed 34 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Sandrinho Simões sped through São Paulo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ademar Vaz. In the 38th minute of the match Palestriscos got a corner. São Paulo FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Paulo José Marinho ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Paulo José Marinho got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ademar Vaz quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. If Elivélton Trevisan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elivélton Trevisan to make the kick off. Elivélton Trevisan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ademar Vaz having to interfere. If Sandrinho Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ademar Vaz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandrinho Simões in the 58th minute of play. When Elivélton Trevisan came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Palestriscos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elivélton Trevisan couldn't finish the play. Elivélton Trevisan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sandrinho Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Ademar Vaz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sandrinho Simões recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Sandrinho Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Elivélton Trevisan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ademar Vaz having to interfere. Emílio da Rocha hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Paulo José Marinho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 92nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ademar Vaz. São Paulo FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Elivélton Trevisan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Palestriscos's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
