Gláuber Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jânio Figueiredo got in the 8th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Herbert Svensson handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Frederico Salles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frederico Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Natã Mineiro having to interfere. Natã Mineiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frederico Salles in the 16th minute of the match. If Frederico Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When São Paulo's Guga Dracena, in the 25th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for São Paulo. Guga Dracena struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Natã Mineiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for São Paulo. After a defensive mix-up in Massape EC's zone, Frederico Salles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Natã Mineiro came out of the goal and Frederico Salles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Frederico Salles's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Natã Mineiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frederico Salles in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Natã Mineiro saved Massape EC from getting behind. In the 45th minute, Júlio Galvão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 46th minute of the match Håkan Lundin sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Natã Mineiro skillfully saved the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Guga Dracena to make the kick off. Júlio Galvão kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. A collision led to São Paulo getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Franklin de Queirós hit a great ball. In the 63rd minute, Guga Dracena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Natã Mineiro was a little too slow when Guga Dracena got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 64th minute. The score was now 0-2. 69 minutes into the game, Tomás Tasso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Massape EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave São Paulo the free kick. Tomás Tasso kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Guga Dracena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Natã Mineiro was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Guga Dracena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Massape EC's Natã Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guga Dracena in the 74th minute of play. In the 75th minute, Rui Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frederico Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Natã Mineiro having to interfere. If Frederico Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Herbert Svensson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gláuber Gonçalves's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. If Frederico Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Natã Mineiro came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by São Paulo's Frederico Salles. But to his dismay, Frederico Salles quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. São Paulo played a much better game than Massape EC and deserved their victory. The Massape EC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
