The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Edvaldo Torres struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. The supporters of SOCIEDADE ESPORTIVA MATÃO booed when Insanos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conrado Campidelis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elder Torres recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Amílton do Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elder Torres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edvaldo Torres's late challenge caught a SOCIEDADE ESPORTIVA MATÃO's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edvaldo Torres helped the player get up and apologised. Aloísio do Valle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dário Hoffmann in the 22nd minute of the match. 32 minutes into the match, Edvaldo Torres notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of SOCIEDADE ESPORTIVA MATÃO's Amílton do Nascimento. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dário Hoffmann made a kick off. Amílton do Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edvaldo Torres, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by SOCIEDADE ESPORTIVA MATÃO's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner.
