The audience thought a goal was coming when Váldson Britto got free with Hélder da Rocha in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hélder da Rocha came out of the goal and Hortêncio Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Butio's Hélder da Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hortêncio Cardoso in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Doriva Amorim ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nando Cerezo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 34 minutes, Durval Leão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Butio and the Bolivia FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 34th minute of the game. One of Butio:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Bolivia FC:s goal. In the 36th minute there was a penalty for Bolivia FC. Ediberto de Lara stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Hélder da Rocha. 1-1. 39 minutes into the game, Samuca Messias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Butio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bolivia FC the free kick. In the 38th minute, one of Butio:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Butio. Ediberto de Lara walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anísio Pena was the one to do the kick off. Anísio Pena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 56th minute of the match Décio Alvarenga shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hélder da Rocha showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Doriva Amorim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 2-1 became the score in the 64th minute when Hortêncio Cardoso elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anísio Pena in the 70th minute of play forced Bolivia FC's goalkeeper Nando Cerezo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hélder da Rocha came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Bolivia FC's Váldson Britto. But to his dismay, Váldson Britto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. The audience was convinced that Hortêncio Cardoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hélder da Rocha was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. When Váldson Britto came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Bolivia FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Váldson Britto couldn't finish the play. Betão Freitas's late challenge caught a Bolivia FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Betão Freitas helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Butio getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Betão Freitas hit a great ball. Ediberto de Lara took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 88th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hélder da Rocha. Butio's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 89 minutes, Clemente Dracena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bolivia FC and the Butio players grew even worse after the yellow card. Clemente Dracena hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Bolivia FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
