After 19 played minutes Butio got a freekick which was hit by Betão Freitas. Hélder da Rocha was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Giovani Dante. Delfim Vieira charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Delfim Vieira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Butio getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Delfim Vieira hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Butio's zone, Basílio Travassos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélder da Rocha came out of the goal and Basílio Travassos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Butio booed when vinicius was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro Barreto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Butio's Anísio Pena got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to vinicius getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Didi Ramos hit a great ball. Basílio Travassos's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Hélder da Rocha firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 40th minute, Basílio Travassos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hélder da Rocha was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0.

The wind increased when Anísio Pena made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Butio's Anísio Pena got a free kick in the 53rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ernani Senna in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hélder da Rocha saved Butio from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basílio Travassos in the 59th minute of play forced Butio's goalkeeper Hélder da Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Basílio Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arí Andrade took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 70th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hélder da Rocha. Butio's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Delfim Vieira struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Yuri Arósio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Butio. In the 74th minute, Murillo Baiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Doriva Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yuri Arósio having to interfere. Basílio Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Hélder da Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Yuri Arósio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Doriva Amorim went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. vinicius's Yuri Arósio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anísio Pena in the 85th minute of play. The supporters of Butio booed when vinicius was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cláudio Sabóia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basílio Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anísio Pena was extremely unlucky when he, in the 96th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out.
