Monlevade

Seating: 1668, VIP seats: 144) José Paulo Lucas started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 3 played minutes, São Paulo's Elói Antunes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper José Paulo França came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in São Paulo reached it. In the 4th minute, Monlevade's José Paulo Lucas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Wesley Koehler. Wesley Koehler yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. São Paulo's Wesley Koehler proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save São Paulo from getting a goal against them. 13 minutes into the match, São Paulo's Elivélton Esteves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Paulo França narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Wellington Loyola was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 19 minutes into the match. 19 minutes into the game, one of São Paulo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Elivélton Esteves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Paulo França having to interfere. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Monlevade's goalkeeper José Paulo França, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Monlevade's Cléber de Amorim got a free kick in the 29th minute. If Elivélton Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Fabiano Velloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Paulo França having to interfere. If Enrique Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Monlevade's zone, Enrique Pena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Paulo França came out of the goal and Enrique Pena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 42 minutes, Afonso Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monlevade's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonso Godoi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Elivélton Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 47 minutes into the match, Enrique Pena had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Paulo França. Monlevade's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Enrique Pena was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
Afonso Godoi kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 59th minute of the match São Paulo got a corner. Monlevade's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Donato de Queiroz ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led São Paulo's Donato de Queiroz to fire away a dangerous shot which José Paulo França despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Monlevade's defense didn't have a chance, in the 61st minute, when Luiz Fabiano Velloso scored to the left of an out of position José Paulo França, making the score, 2-2. 65 minutes into the match, São Paulo's Albertinho Paiva sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Paulo França narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 66th minute, Luiz Fabiano Velloso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 67 minutes into the match, Enrique Pena notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Monlevade's José Paulo França. José Paulo França was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. José Paulo França took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fabiano Velloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Albertinho Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Paulo França having to interfere. 75 minutes into the game, one of São Paulo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Wesley Koehler had in the 77thth minute some difficulties stopping Edmílson Borges's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Monlevade's goal looked a bit too open when Albertinho Paiva came free, but José Paulo França reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luiz Fabiano Velloso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but José Paulo França made a huge save. If Albertinho Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Paulo França made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albertinho Paiva in the 87th minute of play. José Paulo França stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luiz Fabiano Velloso's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. In the 90th minute, Elivélton Esteves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Paulo França was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-4. When Albertinho Paiva came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the São Paulo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albertinho Paiva couldn't finish the play. 96 minutes into the match, Monlevade's goalkeeper José Paulo França had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Enrique Pena. São Paulo played a much better game than Monlevade and deserved their victory. The Monlevade players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
