When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Velloso took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Reynaldo Leão to make any attempt to save it. In the 18th minute, Luiz Fabiano Velloso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, SantasticoJovemFC's Reynaldo Leão got control of the ball when Arnaldo Paes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Arnaldo Paes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Reynaldo Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to SantasticoJovemFC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. João Pedro Castro hit a great ball. Luiz Fabiano Velloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reynaldo Leão having to interfere. Arnaldo Paes in the 35thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Reynaldo Leão, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Reynaldo Leão was a little too slow when Rubens Godoi got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 37th minute. The score was now 4-0. Luiz Fabiano Velloso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Reynaldo Leão having to make a save. After having played for 42 minutes, Rubens Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. São Paulo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubens Godoi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnaldo Paes got free with Reynaldo Leão in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 45th minute of the match, Albertinho Paiva tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Reynaldo Leão saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bebeto Domingues to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Velloso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 66th minute Rubens Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reynaldo Leão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74th minute, Dráusio Cosme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. São Paulo's Donato de Queiroz couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 75th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for SantasticoJovemFC. 77 minutes into the game, São Paulo's Rubens Godoi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Reynaldo Leão made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. Luiz Fabiano Velloso might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Reynaldo Leão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luiz Fabiano Velloso ran back to his position shaking his head. 84 minutes into the match, SantasticoJovemFC's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Pena came free, but Reynaldo Leão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
