Reinaldo Dracena was a little too slow when Edgard Palmeira got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 26th minute. The score was now 1-1. In the 29th minute, Marcelinho Vergílio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cipriano Valle in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ronaldo Bezerra prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of DC UNITED FC booed when Fidelo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Belmiro Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thiago de Moraes in the 33rd minute of play forced Fidelo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Bezerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute Thiago de Moraes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Bezerra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Márcio de Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. DC UNITED FC's Cesinha Pena got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Cipriano Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nico Coutinho kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After 48 minutes Fidelo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ramiro Ribeiro who took care of the corner kick. Ramiro Ribeiro made a great header on DC UNITED FC's corner, it was just that Fidelo's Ronaldo Bezerra managed to reach the ball for a save.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cipriano Valle to make the kick off. 60 minutes into the game, DC UNITED FC's Thiago de Moraes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ronaldo Bezerra made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. After 68 played minutes Fidelo got a freekick which was hit by Belmiro Cordeiro. Ronaldo Bezerra came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by DC UNITED FC's Thiago de Moraes. But to his dismay, Thiago de Moraes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Thiago de Moraes struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Ronaldo Bezerra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for DC UNITED FC. In the 76th match minute, Fidelo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nico Coutinho to maneuver through the defense. Thiago de Moraes took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ronaldo Bezerra. Ronaldo Bezerra dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. In the 82nd minute, Benê Braga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th match minute, Fidelo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcel Valle to maneuver through the defense. 89 minutes into the match, Fidelo's goal looked a bit too open when Cipriano Valle came free, but Ronaldo Bezerra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fidelo's Ronaldo Bezerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano Valle in the 93rd minute of play. Cipriano Valle struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Ronaldo Bezerra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for DC UNITED FC. When the match was over DC UNITED FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Fidelo throughout the match.
