Sidnei Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dudu Viana having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, Amadeu Dante ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Franklin Zonta was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Cícero Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Amadeu Dante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franklin Zonta having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Amadeu Dante had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Franklin Zonta. Rato F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Amadeu Dante was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Rato F.C.'s zone, Amadeu Dante stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Franklin Zonta came out of the goal and Amadeu Dante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Cícero Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cícero Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Franklin Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ulysses Prestess short, quick shot in the 46thth minute got Dudu Viana to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 49 minutes into the match, Montes Claros FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sidnei Amorim came free, but Dudu Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ulysses Prestes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 50th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sidnei Amorim stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sidnei Amorim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Franklin Zonta made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Amadeu Dante sent off a good shot on target. Sidnei Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cícero Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dudu Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidnei Amorim in the 70th minute of play. Edmundo Godoi hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidnei Amorim in the 72nd minute of play forced Montes Claros FC's goalkeeper Dudu Viana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ulysses Prestes came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Rato F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulysses Prestes couldn't finish the play. Ulysses Prestes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Amadeu Dante came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Montes Claros FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amadeu Dante couldn't finish the play. Montes Claros FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
