The referee ignored San Pauli FC's protests and gave Wiliam Gaúcho a yellow card for diving instead. After 17 played minutes San Pauli FC got a freekick which was hit by Wiliam Gaúcho. Tiago Gabriel Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cícero Fonseca in the 18th minute of play. Luiz Fernando Mazza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Dudu Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tiago Gabriel Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cícero Fonseca in the 27th minute of play. In the 44th minute, San Pauli FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Amadeu Dante fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dedé Lara made a kick off. In the 80th minute, Amadeu Dante made a precise shot to the right of Tiago Gabriel Gerber. San Pauli FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 88th match minute, San Pauli FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percy Ferreira to maneuver through the defense. Dedé Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Montes Claros FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
