Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Cícero Fonseca started the match with the kick off. In the 10th minute, Marcus Costa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Congonhas SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Hélder Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hélder Leite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Dudu Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcus Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dudu Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hélder Leite, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hélder Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dudu Viana having to interfere. In the 27th minute, Celsinho Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Congonhas SC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Afonso Gomes hit a great ball. Rony Moreno kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. In the 36th play minute Marcus Costa came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Dudu Viana. 2-0. If Hélder Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Montes Claros FC's Dudu Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hélder Leite in the 47th minute of play.

In the 52nd minute, Hélder Leite made a precise shot to the right of Dudu Viana. Montes Claros FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Marcus Costa took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dudu Viana. Dudu Viana dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. The audience was convinced that Giovanni Cavalcante's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dudu Viana was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. The supporters of Montes Claros FC booed when Congonhas SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelsinho de Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amadeu Dante took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gil Damião. Gil Damião dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hélder Leite in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dudu Viana saved Montes Claros FC from getting behind. In the 89th minute, Edmundo Godoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 90 minutes into the match, Congonhas SC's Hélder Leite sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dudu Viana narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hélder Leite in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dudu Viana prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Congonhas SC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
