An unexpectedly hard shot by Júnior Pena in the 13th minute of play forced Chuvarada's goalkeeper Pedro Augusto Botelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute Virgílio Velasco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zézinho Mesquita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Augusto Botelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Júnior Pena in the 38th minute of the match. After 39 played minutes Chuvarada got a freekick which was hit by Falcão Varela. In the 40th minute, Falcão Varela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zézinho Mesquita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardo Corrêa, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Virgílio Velasco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Zézinho Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 48 minutes, Virgílio Velasco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chuvarada's supporters crossed their fingers, but Virgílio Velasco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Tibbers players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Chuvarada were winning 0-1.

After a rather tough play, Chuvarada's Moisés Penha got a free kick in the 55th minute. Chuvarada's Pedro Augusto Botelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júnior Pena in the 56th minute of play. Pedro Augusto Botelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Paulo Brito in the 62nd minute of play. During the 63rd minute of the match Falcão Varela completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Falcão Varela a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 63 played minutes Chuvarada got a freekick which was hit by Falcão Varela. An unexpected shot in the 70th minute by Ricardo Corrêa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Zézinho Mesquita made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Ricardo Corrêa sent off a good shot on target. In the 74th minute Chuvarada were awarded a corner. Cristian Dante went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Moisés Penha almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Tibbers's Zézinho Mesquita did a great save. Zézinho Mesquita made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Ricardo Corrêa sent off a good shot on target. Pedro Augusto Botelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Paulo Brito in the 82nd minute of the match. Júnior Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Augusto Botelho having to interfere. When Tibbers's Pedro Paulo Brito in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chuvarada's goalie prevented a goal. The Chuvarada supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Chuvarada would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
