In the 12th minute, Diamantino Ferraz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's Wanderson Koehler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diamantino Ferraz in the 14th minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Diamantino Ferraz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Santa Luzia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Cristian Peixoto's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Doriva Tavares firmly grabbed it by the left post. Wanderson Koehler didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Diamantino Ferraz went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Diamantino Ferraz might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wanderson Koehler. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diamantino Ferraz ran back to his position shaking his head. Walmir Rosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mané Cavalcante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Diamantino Ferraz might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wanderson Koehler. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diamantino Ferraz ran back to his position shaking his head. Wanderson Koehler came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Santa Luzia's Diamantino Ferraz. But to his dismay, Diamantino Ferraz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 49 minutes into the match, Santa Luzia's goalkeeper Doriva Tavares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Peixoto. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aírton Sabóia was the one to do the kick off. 61 minutes into the match, Santa Luzia's Vivaldo Breckenfeld sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wanderson Koehler narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice moves Diamantino Ferraz could shoot a difficult shot in the 63rd minute, which Wanderson Koehler however easily saved by the left post. Cristian Peixoto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Diamantino Ferraz took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wanderson Koehler. Wanderson Koehler dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Luzia's zone, Aírton Sabóia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Doriva Tavares came out of the goal and Aírton Sabóia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Santa Luzia's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
