Alan Oliveira might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Walmyr Marquez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alan Oliveira ran back to his position shaking his head. Válter de Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmyr Marquez having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Nova Hera Fenix's zone, Alan Oliveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Walmyr Marquez came out of the goal and Alan Oliveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The throw-in from Silvinho Alagoano in the 23rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by EC Salvador's Aloísio Gomes. Aloísio Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Walmyr Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alan Oliveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmyr Marquez having to interfere. Alan Oliveira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Walmyr Marquez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. Walmyr Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando de Amorim, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After 34 played minutes EC Salvador got a freekick which was hit by João Augusto Sabóia. Fred Donatello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rogério Pombal charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rogério Pombal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 37 played minutes Nova Hera Fenix got a freekick which was hit by Rogério Pombal. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nova Hera Fenix's goalkeeper Walmyr Marquez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. EC Salvador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Dedê Mello in the 43rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Dedê Mello got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Walmyr Marquez quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience was convinced that Alan Oliveira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Walmyr Marquez was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alan Oliveira was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Alan Oliveira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Walmyr Marquez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Alan Oliveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alan Oliveira got free with Walmyr Marquez in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Walmyr Marquez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Orlando de Amorim in the 68th minute. Walmyr Marquez came out and tried to block the shot, but Válter de Godoi slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 82nd minute. Thanks to some nice moves Dedê Mello could shoot a difficult shot in the 86th minute, which Walmyr Marquez however easily saved by the left post. Alan Oliveira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Walmyr Marquez made a huge save. The supporters of EC Salvador booed when Nova Hera Fenix was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogério Pombal didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Nova Hera Fenix fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. EC Salvador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
