An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilton Zonta in the 41st minute of play forced Iuarete's goalkeeper Arthur Pernambucano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Osmar das Neves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcelo Trobbiani read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Iuarete's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lauro Branco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcelo Trobbiani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osmar das Neves in the 71st minute of play. In the 72nd minute Osmar das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Trobbiani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Osmar das Neves scored 2-0 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcelo Trobbiani, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
