The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelo Goiano got free with Guga Goiano in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 7 minutes into the match, PONTE PRETA's goalkeeper Guga Goiano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcelo Goiano. Marcelo Goiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guga Goiano having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 19th minute by Marcelo Goiano got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Marcelo Goiano who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Guga Goiano when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dieguinho Rosado hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. The supporters of Old Impale FC booed when PONTE PRETA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcinho Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, PONTE PRETA's Guga Goiano got control of the ball when Marcelo Goiano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nilton Vasconcelos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedito Ferraz having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, PONTE PRETA's goalkeeper Guga Goiano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcelo Goiano. Guga Goiano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jerônimo Quintal's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. After having played for 41 minutes, Jerônimo Quintal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Old Impale FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerônimo Quintal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 43rd minute of the match, Marcelo Goiano got a very nice opportunity to score, but Guga Goiano was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. PONTE PRETA's defense didn't have a chance, in the 44th minute, when Jerônimo Quintal scored to the left of an out of position Guga Goiano, making the score, 1-0. Glauco Matos hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Goiano in the 53rd minute of play forced PONTE PRETA's goalkeeper Guga Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcelo Goiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guga Goiano having to interfere. Jerônimo Quintal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Guga Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. PONTE PRETA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jerônimo Quintal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After some careless play in the PONTE PRETA defense, Jerônimo Quintal kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guga Goiano. The PONTE PRETA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guga Goiano should have stopped the shot. Old Impale FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcelo Goiano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guga Goiano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. PONTE PRETA's Guga Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerônimo Quintal in the 83rd minute of play. If Marcelo Goiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 85th minute Marcelo Goiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guga Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guga Goiano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcelo Goiano's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 90th minute of the game. One of PONTE PRETA:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Old Impale FC:s goal. In the 92nd minute there was a penalty for Old Impale FC. Diogo Santos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Guga Goiano. 4-0. In the 95th minute, Jerônimo Quintal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Old Impale FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. Old Impale FC's Jerônimo Quintal got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Old Impale FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
