The referee ignored Petróleo EC's protests and gave Marcel Marquez a yellow card for diving instead. Marcel Marquez kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. After 11 minutes, Rodriguinho Castro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VapoVapo FC and the Petróleo EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, VapoVapo FC's Rodriguinho Castro got a free kick in the 11th minute. The audience was convinced that José Maria Ramos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wiliam Moreno was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Dida Koehler missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 18 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Wiliam Moreno right hand side. The supporters of Petróleo EC booed when VapoVapo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafinha Meira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 25 minutes of play, Petróleo EC's José Maria Ramos made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wiliam Moreno was left in no man's land by his defense there! Petróleo EC's Amadeu Sanches played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafinha Meira in the 30th minute of play. In the 30th match minute, Petróleo EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Carioca to maneuver through the defense. Petróleo EC's José Maria Ramos got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simão Vaz in the 38th minute of play forced VapoVapo FC's goalkeeper Wiliam Moreno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 39 minutes, Dida Koehler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Petróleo EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dida Koehler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that José Maria Ramos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wiliam Moreno was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Maria Ramos to make the kick off. José Maria Ramos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Wiliam Moreno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Maria Ramos in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wiliam Moreno prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 2-0 when José Maria Ramos sped through VapoVapo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Wiliam Moreno. After 63 played minutes VapoVapo FC got a freekick which was hit by Tony Souza. José Maria Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wiliam Moreno having to interfere. In the 69th minute José Maria Ramos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wiliam Moreno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that José Maria Ramos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wiliam Moreno was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. If Cristóvão Corrêa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Petróleo EC booed when VapoVapo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in VapoVapo FC's zone, José Maria Ramos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wiliam Moreno came out of the goal and José Maria Ramos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute, José Maria Ramos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wiliam Moreno was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Simão Vaz kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. With a little luck, Petróleo EC's Amadeu Sanches got control of the ball when Rafinha Meira tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Petróleo EC getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Simão Vaz hit a great ball. Petróleo EC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
