When the match clock showed 44 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Virgílio Linhares sped through FC Vila Naticos's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edgar Vander. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Virgílio Linhares to make the kick off.
