Irai FC's Pedrão Valladares got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Almir Peres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramón Guimarães in the 11th minute of play. When Marquinhos das Neves fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Irai FC's protests and gave Marquinhos das Neves a yellow card for diving instead. Marquinhos das Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the match, LEGIONÁRIOS's goal looked a bit too open when Ramón Guimarães came free, but Almir Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Pedrão Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Irai FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedrão Valladares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Almir Peres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Valdomiro Moura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marquinhos de Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Afonso Arruda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Moura having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, LEGIONÁRIOS's Marquinhos de Alcântara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Valdomiro Moura narrowly saved just below the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Romário Félix's late challenge caught a LEGIONÁRIOS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Romário Félix helped the player get up and apologised. In the 54th minute, Romário Félix hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Afonso Arruda might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Valdomiro Moura. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Afonso Arruda ran back to his position shaking his head. 63 minutes into the match, LEGIONÁRIOS's goal looked a bit too open when Ramón Guimarães came free, but Almir Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Marquinhos de Alcântara came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the LEGIONÁRIOS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marquinhos de Alcântara couldn't finish the play. If Pedrão Valladares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 69th minute by Pedrão Valladares got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 71st minute Ramón Guimarães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Almir Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Irai FC defense, Marquinhos de Alcântara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Valdomiro Moura. The Irai FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Valdomiro Moura should have stopped the shot. When Ramón Guimarães came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Irai FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ramón Guimarães couldn't finish the play. When Irai FC's Ramón Guimarães in the 88th minute got a chance for a shot 88th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye LEGIONÁRIOS's goalie prevented a goal. Valdomiro Moura came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by LEGIONÁRIOS's Afonso Arruda. But to his dismay, Afonso Arruda quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0.
