Almir Peres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 26th minute, Marquinhos de Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jorge Fernandes struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Almir Peres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gotham City. Frank Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Almir Peres having to interfere. If Jorge Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Almir Peres stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jorge Fernandes's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomás Barreto in the 39th minute of play forced LEGIONÁRIOS's goalkeeper Almir Peres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Glauco Paranaense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Almir Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marquinhos de Alcântara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. LEGIONÁRIOS's Afonso Arruda suffered a sore thigh after 56 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 56 minutes into the game, Paulo José Fernandez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gotham City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave LEGIONÁRIOS the free kick. Paulo José Fernandez kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frank Rocha in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Almir Peres saved LEGIONÁRIOS from getting behind. Almir Peres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gil do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Jorge Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Almir Peres having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Jorge Fernandes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tomás Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Almir Peres. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomás Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. If Frank Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 71st minute, LEGIONÁRIOS's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Frank Rocha fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Frank Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorge Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. LEGIONÁRIOS's Almir Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gil do Nascimento in the 85th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marquinhos de Alcântara in the 89th minute of play forced Gotham City's goalkeeper Faustão Carneiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. LEGIONÁRIOS's Almir Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gil do Nascimento in the 91st minute of play. When Tomás Barreto came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Gotham City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomás Barreto couldn't finish the play. When the match was over Gotham City could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than LEGIONÁRIOS throughout the match.
