Spectators: 6649 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1649, VIP seats: 0) Luís Paulo Tróia's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Júlio Berger firmly grabbed it by the left post. Pedrinho Fernandes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Júlio Berger read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. If Rômulo Tinoco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Júlio Berger came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Fortaleza's Luís Paulo Tróia. But to his dismay, Luís Paulo Tróia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Ricardinho Albuquerque showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rômulo Tinoco in the 21st minute of the match. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fortaleza's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alberto Almeida was slow to take the kick. During this time Legião AlSufid's players had a chance to rest. Rômulo Tinoco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricardinho Albuquerque read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Fortaleza defense, Rômulo Tinoco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardinho Albuquerque. The Fortaleza fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardinho Albuquerque should have stopped the shot. Rômulo Tinoco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardinho Albuquerque having to interfere. Júlio Berger didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luís Paulo Tróia went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. In the 35th minute of the match, Luís Paulo Tróia got a very nice opportunity to score, but Júlio Berger was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Fernandão Jacinto hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tostão Maciel during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 54 minutes into the game, one of Fortaleza:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 55th minute there was a penalty for Legião AlSufid. Alberto Almeida stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ricardinho Albuquerque. 3-2. Fortaleza's Lauro Secco got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Júlio Berger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernandão Jacinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th minute Alberto Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardinho Albuquerque saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The tension between the Fortaleza and the Legião AlSufid players grew even worse after the yellow card. 72 minutes into the game, Percival de Sousa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Legião AlSufid's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fortaleza the free kick. In the 72nd match minute, Legião AlSufid was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percival de Sousa to maneuver through the defense. If Rômulo Tinoco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernandão Jacinto in the 78th minute of play forced Legião AlSufid's goalkeeper Júlio Berger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute Abel Simão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Berger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Júlio Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lauro Secco in the 94th minute of play. After having played for 99 minutes, Luís Paulo Tróia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fortaleza's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Paulo Tróia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
