Sidnei Cordeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nestor Abraão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of Corinthians-Ba:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Grêmio F.B.P.A:s goal. The referee gave Grêmio F.B.P.A a penalty, 54 minutes into the game. In the 65th minute, Mauro Rodrigues got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Giuseppe Fonseca came free with the goalkeeper in the 88th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Luís Eduardo Fernandes could save by the left post. Grêmio F.B.P.A's Luís Eduardo Fernandes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio F.B.P.A from getting a goal against them. Abelardo Pinheiro hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. If Giuseppe Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
