Válbson Loureiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tony Penha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Pedro Paulista made a kick off. 59 minutes into the match, Canada's goal looked a bit too open when José Pedro Paulista came free, but João Augusto Secco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anajas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alessandro Moreira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If José Pedro Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Canada were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
