Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Olavo Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cléber Mello having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Catiara's Caetano Nogueira got a free kick in the 17th minute. Cléber Mello made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Dé de Almeida sent off a good shot on target. Dé de Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Cléber Mello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Fabiano Veiga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Olavo Pena was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 28th minute. Januaria's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Roberto Borges could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Cléber Mello made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Orlando do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Januaria's supporters rose to their feet, but Orlando do Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cléber Mello breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Cléber Mello didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Januaria. When Dé de Almeida came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Januaria fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dé de Almeida couldn't finish the play. In the 79th minute, Dé de Almeida left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net.
