The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Doni de Almeida recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doni de Almeida in the 15th minute of play forced Jatei's goalkeeper Humberto Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gilvan Gomes didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 17th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. 24 minutes into the match, SafarijoeSports's goalkeeper Gilvan Gomes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Augusto da Fonseca. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Evandro Mineiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Joélson Branco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilvan Gomes having to interfere. The supporters of Jatei booed when SafarijoeSports was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edinho Vergílio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jairo Barral took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gilvan Gomes. The referee ignored SafarijoeSports's protests and gave Moisés Jacinto a yellow card for diving instead. Doni de Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Andrade having to interfere. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Humberto Andrade showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 86th minute Flavinho Galvão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilvan Gomes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edmílson Branco kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. A collision led to Jatei getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Zé Augusto da Fonseca hit a great ball. If Sebastião Pontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the SafarijoeSports defense, Jairo Barral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gilvan Gomes. The SafarijoeSports fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gilvan Gomes should have stopped the shot. The Jatei support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
