Tijucano's Marcelinho do Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Quintal in the 13th minute of play. Doni Trevisan hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dedê Perez during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 18 minutes into the game, Atlético São Jorge's Tomás Quintal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcelinho do Nascimento made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Marcelinho do Nascimento came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético São Jorge's Váldson Cavalcante. But to his dismay, Váldson Cavalcante quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Carlos Augusto Donatello received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Marcelinho do Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If César Prado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute, Juvenal Pitta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juvenal Pitta in the 45th minute of play forced Tijucano's goalkeeper Marcelinho do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomás Quintal was the one to do the kick off. Juvenal Pitta might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcelinho do Nascimento. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Juvenal Pitta ran back to his position shaking his head. Bernardo Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Léo Paes having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Ramos in the 66th minute of play forced Atlético São Jorge's goalkeeper Léo Paes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Atlético São Jorge's Marcelinho do Nascimento threw himself towards the right post 73 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Juvenal Pitta, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Léo Paes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armandinho Valadares, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Ramos in the 81st minute of play forced Atlético São Jorge's goalkeeper Léo Paes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juvenal Pitta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcelinho do Nascimento read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. If Tomás Quintal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelinho do Nascimento made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Carlos Augusto Donatello sent off a good shot on target. Armandinho Valadares hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. If Carlos Augusto Donatello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Atlético São Jorge's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
