Márcio Tinoco might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Olívio Vergílio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Márcio Tinoco ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tarcisio Salles struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Olívio Vergílio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for White Tigers FC. Alexsandro Cabral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benedito Brasil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Flamengo RJ's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Sarmento in the 16th minute. Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld made a great header on Flamengo RJ's corner, it was just that White Tigers FC's Alexsandro Cabral managed to reach the ball for a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld got free with Alexsandro Cabral in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tarcisio Salles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luís Fernando Simões during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld got free with Alexsandro Cabral in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Olívio Vergílio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tarcisio Salles in the 37th minute of play. Flamengo RJ's Olívio Vergílio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Matos in the 38th minute of play. If Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Flamengo RJ's Franklin Zonta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alexsandro Cabral narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexsandro Cabral having to interfere. Flamengo RJ's Olívio Vergílio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Matos in the 59th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedito Brasil in the 60th minute of play forced White Tigers FC's goalkeeper Alexsandro Cabral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olívio Vergílio made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Tarcisio Salles sent off a good shot on target. Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Alexsandro Cabral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The long shot by Márcio Tinoco in the 74th minute really tested Olívio Vergílio's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a defensive mix-up in White Tigers FC's zone, Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexsandro Cabral came out of the goal and Carlos Augusto Breckenfeld tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Faustão Leite in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olívio Vergílio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Benedito Brasil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexsandro Cabral having to interfere. Tomás Matos hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Raphael Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Olívio Vergílio made a huge save.
