The supporters of Nacional booed when Tubarão Londrinense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Magno Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Nacional's Luiz Fábio Velloso got a free kick in the 40th minute. Baltazar Peres stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Vítor Borges's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Virgílio Faria couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Ciro Simões kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. After having played for 53 minutes, Ulisses da Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nacional's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ulisses da Rocha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Armandinho Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fernando Machado having to interfere. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Baltazar Peres showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. José Vítor Borges came free with the goalkeeper in the 72nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Baltazar Peres could save by the left post. Virgílio Faria struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Baltazar Peres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tubarão Londrinense. Baltazar Peres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgílio Faria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 92 minutes into the game, Virgílio Faria recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Baltazar Peres. Virgílio Faria showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Tubarão Londrinense's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
