Ruy Pombal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laerte Antunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Ruy Pombal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laerte Antunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ruy Pombal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laerte Antunes in the 12th minute of play. Carlos Eduardo Bezerra scored 1-0 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ruy Pombal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ruy Pombal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilson Sergipano, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. After a rather tough play, Claretiana's Luís Massa got a free kick in the 20th minute. 25 minutes into the match, Claretiana's Laerte Antunes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ruy Pombal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Laerte Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruy Pombal having to interfere. Carlos Eduardo Bezerra's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 38thth minute, Ruy Pombal skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. A collision led to Futebologia S.C getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Abelardo Dracena hit a great ball. Ruy Pombal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laerte Antunes in the 40th minute of the match. If Laerte Antunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cássio Rezende hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Laerte Antunes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Claretiana's supporters rose to their feet, but Laerte Antunes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ruy Pombal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The Claretiana fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Claretiana's Laerte Antunes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Alberto Valladares's late challenge caught a Claretiana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alberto Valladares helped the player get up and apologised. Alberto Valladares kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. In the 62nd minute of the match Cássio Rezende shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ruy Pombal showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Alan Chaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67thth minute of the game Carlos Eduardo Bezerra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Futebologia S.C's Ruy Pombal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 69th match minute, Claretiana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kléber Alvarenga to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute Antônio Carlos Paes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Francisco Galvão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ruy Pombal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Laerte Antunes's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Futebologia S.C's Ruy Pombal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laerte Antunes in the 78th minute of play. Laerte Antunes might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ruy Pombal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Laerte Antunes ran back to his position shaking his head. After 87th play minutes Carlos Eduardo Bezerra shot 3-1, a short shot which went by Ruy Pombal and just under the crossbar into goal. Laerte Antunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96thth minute of the game Carlos Eduardo Bezerra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Futebologia S.C's Ruy Pombal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the referee ended the match the Claretiana players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
