In the 37thth minute of the game Osmar Salles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maracacume EC's Horácio Mendes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Artur Souza's late challenge caught a Maracacume EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Artur Souza helped the player get up and apologised. Maracacume EC's Horácio Mendes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Maracacume EC from getting a goal against them. 46 minutes into the match, Maracacume EC's goal looked a bit too open when Osmar Salles came free, but Horácio Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Osmar Salles to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Osmar Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Balseiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Osmar Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Horácio Mendes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Horácio Mendes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Neto, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. In the 64th minute of the match Nildo Maciel sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Horácio Mendes skillfully saved the ball. Oséas Mineiro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 66th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Horácio Mendes. Maracacume EC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Basílio Andrade fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maracacume EC's protests and gave Basílio Andrade a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Maracacume EC booed when Balseiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artur Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Romeu Toscano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Balseiro walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
