If Diogo do Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 9 minutes into the match, Otávio de Castro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ezequiel de Andrade. Lombas FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Otávio de Castro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Tapes AD's Otávio de Castro got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ezequiel de Andrade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agnaldo Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 27 played minutes Tapes AD got a freekick which was hit by Válter Fernandez. Roger Dracena was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 27th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 31st match minute, Tapes AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chiquinho Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Diogo do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lombas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Diogo do Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alan Barral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benjamin Pitta was extremely unlucky when he, in the 39th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. When Lombas FC's Diogo do Nascimento in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tapes AD's goalie prevented a goal. After the first half Tapes AD were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience was convinced that Otávio de Castro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ezequiel de Andrade was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Luiz Fábio Couto's late challenge caught a Lombas FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Tapes AD would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
