The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gil Mendonça struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Fernandinho Monteiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for COMPATT FC. If Glauco Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind COMPATT FC's goalkeeper Virgílio Bastos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fernandinho Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Glauco Mota in the 13th minute of the match. The supporters of COMPATT FC booed when Zequinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerônimo Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 17th minute by Glauco Mota got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a rather tough play, Zequinha's Jerônimo Mattos got a free kick in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glauco Mota in the 25th minute of play forced Zequinha's goalkeeper Fernandinho Monteiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 26 played minutes Zequinha got a freekick which was hit by Eusébio Moraes. When Walmyr Magalhães came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the COMPATT FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walmyr Magalhães couldn't finish the play. After having played for 32 minutes, Jerônimo Hermes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zequinha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerônimo Hermes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gil Mendonça got free with Fernandinho Monteiro in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jerônimo Hermes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Virgílio Bastos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 41 minutes into the game, Eurico Breckenfeld was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zequinha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave COMPATT FC the free kick. In the 41st match minute, Zequinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eurico Breckenfeld to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dagoberto Alvarenga in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Virgílio Bastos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in COMPATT FC's zone, Jerônimo Hermes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgílio Bastos came out of the goal and Jerônimo Hermes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dagoberto Alvarenga made a kick off. The supporters of COMPATT FC booed when Zequinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerônimo Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dagoberto Alvarenga blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Virgílio Bastos having to make a save. Dagoberto Alvarenga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Virgílio Bastos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jerônimo Hermes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dagoberto Alvarenga in the 81st minute of play forced COMPATT FC's goalkeeper Virgílio Bastos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jerônimo Hermes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 82ndth minute tested the skills of Virgílio Bastos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 85th minute, Jerônimo Mattos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Glauco Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th minute Dagoberto Alvarenga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio Bastos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Virgílio Bastos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jerônimo Hermes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 96 minute of play. Zequinha played a much better game than COMPATT FC and deserved their victory. The COMPATT FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
