But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hugo Proença couldn't finish the play. Ramón Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Poacos's Carlos Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonçalo Vasconcelos in the 17th minute of play. CORMERCIAL FC's Perivaldo de Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dida Campidelis in the 19th minute of play. Ernani Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Peres was out of position in the 23 minute of play, and Gonçalo Vasconcelos capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gonçalo Vasconcelos really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 27th minute, Deivid Pitta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Ernani Berger came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the CORMERCIAL FC fans jumped to their feet. Afonso Couto's late challenge caught a CORMERCIAL FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Afonso Couto helped the player get up and apologised. Afonso Couto kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. The supporters of CORMERCIAL FC booed when Poacos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laércio Britto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Eduardo Sarmento was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 33rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ernani Berger got free with Carlos Peres in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. CORMERCIAL FC's Ernani Berger got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, Gonçalo Vasconcelos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, CORMERCIAL FC's Dráusio Mello got a free kick in the 45th minute. After 47 minutes, Carlos Eduardo Sarmento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CORMERCIAL FC and the Poacos players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 47th minute, one of CORMERCIAL FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for CORMERCIAL FC. The referee gave Poacos a penalty, 48 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Agnaldo Donato, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of CORMERCIAL FC's Perivaldo de Queiroz. 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dudu Tepedino during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Carlos Eduardo Sarmento placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After a defensive mix-up in CORMERCIAL FC's zone, Dida Campidelis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Perivaldo de Queiroz came out of the goal and Dida Campidelis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ernani Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Peres having to interfere. In the 66th minute Ernani Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Afonso Couto hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Gonçalo Vasconcelos took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlos Peres. Carlos Peres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Ernani Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot. CORMERCIAL FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ernani Berger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Peres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Gonçalo Vasconcelos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Peres was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. In the 77th minute, Gonçalo Vasconcelos made a precise shot to the right of Carlos Peres. Poacos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Gonçalo Vasconcelos scored 4-1 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Peres, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gonçalo Vasconcelos in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Peres saved Poacos from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Vasconcelos in the 95th minute of play forced Poacos's goalkeeper Carlos Peres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 99 minutes into the game, Hugo Proença recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Perivaldo de Queiroz. Hugo Proença showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-2. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. CORMERCIAL FC had played much better football throughout.
