Spectators: 6420 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1400, VIP seats: 20) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Tiago Aparecido took the kick off in the first half of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 4 minutes, Edgard Lopes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Flavinho Ferreira took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edgard Lopes. Edgard Lopes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. After 18 minutes of play, SÃO PAULO FC's Dráuzio Veiga made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vânderson de Alcântara was left in no man's land by his defense there! 23 minutes into the match, SÃO PAULO FC's Emílio Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vânderson de Alcântara narrowly saved just below the crossbar. SÃO PAULO FC's Edgard Lopes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save SÃO PAULO FC from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Ronaldinho Hoffmann took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Edgard Lopes to make any attempt to save it. Dráuzio Veiga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Vânderson de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the game, Tiago Aparecido recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edgard Lopes. Tiago Aparecido showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. Flavinho Ferreira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Edgard Lopes made a huge save. Edgard Lopes was a little too slow when Tiago Aparecido got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 5-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Emílio Montenegro to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Tiago Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard Lopes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Fluminense FC booed when SÃO PAULO FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermínio Lago didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oswaldo da Costa's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Edgard Lopes - 6-1 was put on the score board in the 55th minute. Emílio Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vânderson de Alcântara read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. In the 61st minute, Emílio Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dráuzio Veiga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Vânderson de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dráuzio Veiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Vânderson de Alcântara made a huge save. If Dráuzio Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgard Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Flavinho Ferreira in the 72nd minute of the match. Emílio Montenegro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vânderson de Alcântara came out and tried to block the shot, but Emílio Montenegro slotted it home off the left post making it 6-2 in the 73rd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cido de Sousa during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cido de Sousa kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Emílio Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fluminense FC's Vânderson de Alcântara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Fluminense FC from getting a goal against them. If Emílio Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guga Tinoco charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guga Tinoco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Fluminense FC's Guga Tinoco got a free kick in the 86th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Emílio Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. SÃO PAULO FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Emílio Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vânderson de Alcântara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Emílio Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Dráuzio Veiga came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the SÃO PAULO FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dráuzio Veiga couldn't finish the play. Fluminense FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
