After a rather tough play, Poacos's Erivaldo de Andrade got a free kick in the 26th minute. After 27 played minutes, Putiri's Carlos Fernando Rosado shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Carlos Peres came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Valdo Prestes was the one to do the kick off. Carlos Peres stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valdo Prestes's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. If Osvaldinho Linhares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 65th minute Dida Campidelis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aílton Sergipano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Putiri fans cheered their team off the field, for while Poacos had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
