Riograndense FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hortêncio Eger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Amigo do Lagarteichon's Fabinho Alvarenga got a free kick in the 39th minute. After having played for 41 minutes, Agnaldo Hermes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Riograndense FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agnaldo Hermes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Hortêncio Eger in the 52nd minute of play forced Amigo do Lagarteichon's goalkeeper Bruno da Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 53rd minute by Haroldo Quadros got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The audience was convinced that Agnaldo Hermes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bruno da Fonseca was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. In the 88th match minute, Riograndense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agnaldo Hermes to maneuver through the defense. Pedro Luís Magalhães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alessandro Mangueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Amigo do Lagarteichon played a much better game than Riograndense FC and deserved their victory. The Riograndense FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
