After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Dudu Magalhães managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paris Saint Germain's supporters rose to their feet, but Dudu Magalhães was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adelino Barros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 18th minute, Meaipe's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dagoberto Sabóia fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 20 minutes into the match, Paris Saint Germain's Dagoberto Sabóia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adelino Barros narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Meaipe's Adelino Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dudu Magalhães in the 23rd minute of play. Paris Saint Germain's Dagoberto Sabóia got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dudu Magalhães in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adelino Barros prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Meaipe's zone, Dagoberto Sabóia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adelino Barros came out of the goal and Dagoberto Sabóia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Dudu Guimarães came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Meaipe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dudu Guimarães couldn't finish the play. In the 47th minute, Meaipe's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dagoberto Sabóia fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dudu Magalhães was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Paris Saint Germain's goal looked a bit too open when Toninho Paraibano came free, but Faustão da Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 57th minute Meaipe were awarded a corner. José Pedro Marquez went to the cornerflag to take it. 61 minutes into the match, Paris Saint Germain's goalkeeper Faustão da Silva had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dudu Guimarães. Faustão da Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Paris Saint Germain's Faustão da Silva got control of the ball when Dudu Guimarães tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Toninho Paraibano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Faustão da Silva was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Adelino Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal de Amaral in the 75th minute of play. Toninho Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Toninho Paraibano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Meaipe eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
