Spectators: 7214 (Terracing: 5445, Seating: 1669, VIP seats: 100) Friburguense AC's Jonathan Paiva started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Marcel Vides charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcel Vides the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 6th minute, Jonathan Paiva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Hernani Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot. Millwall FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hernani Capixaba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldir Sena breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 16 minutes of play, Millwall FC's Daniel Zonta made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Waldir Sena was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Friburguense AC's Roger Britto got a free kick in the 26th minute. If Hernani Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Waldir Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernani Capixaba in the 27th minute of play. Daniel Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Waldir Sena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Friburguense AC's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zonta came free, but Waldir Sena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th match minute, Friburguense AC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulysses Sá to maneuver through the defense. 40 minutes into the match, Hernani Capixaba had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Waldir Sena. Friburguense AC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hernani Capixaba was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After 49 played minutes, Millwall FC's Dedé da Silva shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Waldir Sena came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Millwall FC reached it.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hernani Capixaba made a kick off. In the 54th minute of the match Millwall FC got a corner. Friburguense AC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hernani Capixaba ran over to the corner to take the kick. Friburguense AC's Jonathan Paiva got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tião Fontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubinho de Carvalho in the 64th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Millwall FC's Daniel Zonta slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Waldir Sena. That made the score 0-4 after 69 minutes of play. Millwall FC's Hernani Capixaba got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Friburguense AC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Daniel Zonta 84 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-5. When Hílton Alves fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Millwall FC's protests and gave Hílton Alves a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Friburguense AC booed when Millwall FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hílton Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 88 played minutes, Friburguense AC's Roger Britto shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tião Fontes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Friburguense AC reached it. In the 90th minute Hernani Capixaba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldir Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bernardinho de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Sena having to interfere. If Daniel Zonta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Millwall FC played a much better game than Friburguense AC and deserved their victory. The Friburguense AC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
