Daniel Zonta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Ponte Preta TS defense, Hernani Capixaba kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Frédson Nogueira. The Ponte Preta TS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Frédson Nogueira should have stopped the shot. If Marcel Vides had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frédson Nogueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hernani Capixaba, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hernani Capixaba in the 34th minute of play forced Ponte Preta TS's goalkeeper Frédson Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frédson Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Vides in the 35th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Ricardinho Falcão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th minute, Hernani Capixaba got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Daniel Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Frédson Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Juarês Pernambucano to make the kick off. With his leg Frédson Nogueira managed to avoid a goal in the 53rdth minute, when Millwall FC's Hernani Capixaba fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Marcel Vides sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ponte Preta TS's Frédson Nogueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hernani Capixaba in the 61st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Hernani Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot. Millwall FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hernani Capixaba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frédson Nogueira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 66 minutes of play Millwall FC's Luiz Guilherme Siqueira was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juarês Pernambucano couldn't finish the play. Daniel Zonta hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. When Adelino Pontes came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Ponte Preta TS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adelino Pontes couldn't finish the play. When the match was over Millwall FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ponte Preta TS throughout the match.
