The referee ignored Legionários FC's protests and gave Marquinhos Silva a yellow card for diving instead. In the 11th match minute, Goleta FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgard Mazza to maneuver through the defense. Acácio Massa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celso Alcântara in the 25th minute of the match. Cássio da Cunhas short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got Váldson Paraíba to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 27th match minute, Legionários FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernani do Vale to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marquinhos Silva in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Acácio Massa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Acácio Massa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jefferson de Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. If Marquinhos Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Acácio Massa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marquinhos Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 45 minutes into the match, Goleta FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jefferson de Senna came free, but Acácio Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jefferson de Senna to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Jefferson de Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Acácio Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Legionários FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Jefferson de Senna hit a great ball. Marquinhos Silva's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Acácio Massa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Acácio Massa came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Legionários FC's Marquinhos Silva. But to his dismay, Marquinhos Silva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hernani do Vale in the 67th minute of play forced Goleta FC's goalkeeper Acácio Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Décio da Rocha in the 72nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Goleta FC's Gilmar Esteves. Cássio da Cunha struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Váldson Paraíba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Goleta FC. Acácio Massa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jefferson de Senna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 78 minutes into the match, Goleta FC's goalkeeper Acácio Massa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marquinhos Silva. Acácio Massa made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Marquinhos Silva sent off a good shot on target. After 82 minutes, Cássio da Cunha made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Legionários FC's Váldson Paraíba tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Legionários FC's zone, Edgard Mazza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Váldson Paraíba came out of the goal and Edgard Mazza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 93 minutes into the match, Goleta FC's goalkeeper Acácio Massa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marquinhos Silva. Gilmar Esteves's late challenge caught a Legionários FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gilmar Esteves helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Goleta FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 96th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Acácio Massa, was totally fooled by Legionários FC's Abelardo Figueiredo, who 98 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Legionários FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
