Jorge Velasco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. César Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Narciso Fontes kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After having played for 12 minutes, Alfredinho Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Soberano F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredinho Matos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ciro de Godoi hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. 14 minutes into the game, Soberano F.C's Jorge Velasco nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. César Amaral made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Laércio de Medeiros during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Laércio de Medeiros hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Gremio defense, Jorge Velasco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of César Amaral. The Gremio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that César Amaral should have stopped the shot. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by Soberano F.C's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Reinaldo Vinhas was slow to take the kick. During this time Gremio's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Gremio's corner Reinaldo Vinhas fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gualter Queirós quite easily take care of the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 25 minutes into the game, when Abel de Senna put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Soberano F.C:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gremio:s goal. Gualter Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiago Catarinense, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alfredinho Matos during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Gremio's Daniel Capixaba suffered a sore thigh after 34 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Soberano F.C's Alfredinho Matos got his second yellow card of the match in the 34th minute. The referee ordered Alfredinho Matos off the ground. In the 36th match minute, Soberano F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredinho Matos to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Laércio de Medeiros made a kick off. Soberano F.C's Gualter Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laércio de Medeiros in the 52nd minute of play. Teodoro Rodrigues struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. César Amaral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Soberano F.C. Laércio de Medeiros kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 64th minute Laércio de Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualter Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gualter Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narciso Fontes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Soberano F.C's Gualter Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laércio de Medeiros in the 75th minute of play. If Laércio de Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st minute Narciso Fontes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualter Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laércio de Medeiros blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gualter Queirós having to make a save. Inácio Sena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. César Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 88 minutes into the game, Teodoro Rodrigues recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of César Amaral. Teodoro Rodrigues showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-4. 92 minutes into the match, Soberano F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Tiago Catarinense came free, but Gualter Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 94 played minutes Gremio got a freekick which was hit by Laércio de Medeiros. When the final whistle sounded Soberano F.C left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Gremio.
