Iuri de Godoi hit a great ball. Tropa de Elite's Marquinhos Koehler couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 17th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Itaperapoan SS. Dênis Toscano charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dênis Toscano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Tropa de Elite's Dênis Toscano got a free kick in the 19th minute. Umberto Maranhense hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Leandro Lucas took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Frédson de Castro. Frédson de Castro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After 32 played minutes Itaperapoan SS got a freekick which was hit by Osmar Vergílio. Frédson de Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ademar Damião, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Ademar Damião fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frédson de Castro having to interfere. Tropa de Elite's Frédson de Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacinto Leal in the 46th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mauro Linares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jacinto Leal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frédson de Castro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. After 52 minutes of play Tropa de Elite's Dênis Toscano was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 52nd minute, Dênis Toscano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Itaperapoan SS's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Leandro Lucas in the 57th minute. It was a well-played corner which Adhemar Pontes managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In a very dangerous position, a player in Tropa de Elite fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 59th minute. Penalty! In the 67thth minute of the game Jacinto Leal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tropa de Elite's Frédson de Castro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Leal in the 69th minute of play forced Tropa de Elite's goalkeeper Frédson de Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bernardinho Gerber showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Álvaro Toscano in the 73rd minute of the match. Ademar Damião fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frédson de Castro having to interfere. After 84 minutes, Jacinto Leal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itaperapoan SS and the Tropa de Elite players grew even worse after the yellow card. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Itaperapoan SS walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
