If Reynaldo Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulo Renato França kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovânio do Nascimento in the 18th minute of play forced Vila Nova's goalkeeper Jean Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guto de Amaral got free with Jean Coelho in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jean Coelho made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Guto de Amaral sent off a good shot on target. Guto de Amaral scored 1-0 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jean Coelho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 30 minutes into the match, Vila Nova's goal looked a bit too open when Geovânio do Nascimento came free, but Jean Coelho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sílvio Luís Domingues hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute, Manuel Batista sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Warnow FC's Edvaldo Faria didn't even have to move. 43 minutes into the game, Reynaldo Varela cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Edvaldo Faria was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Geovânio do Nascimento made a kick off. If Geovânio do Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reynaldo Varela struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Edvaldo Faria didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vila Nova. 66 minutes into the match, Geovânio do Nascimento had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jean Coelho. Vila Nova's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Geovânio do Nascimento was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. 70 minutes into the match, Warnow FC's goalkeeper Edvaldo Faria had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reynaldo Varela. Guto de Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reynaldo Varela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edvaldo Faria having to interfere. Geovânio do Nascimento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Vila Nova booed when Warnow FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aílton Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 91 minutes into the game, Geraldo Mota was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Warnow FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vila Nova the free kick. After 91 played minutes Warnow FC got a freekick which was hit by Geraldo Mota. If Didi Pimenta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vila Nova's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
