Delfim Lucas might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cesinha Messias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Delfim Lucas ran back to his position shaking his head. Bebeto Cerezo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cesinha Messias having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Xavantes's Bebeto Cerezo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cesinha Messias narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Maracas's Cesinha Messias got control of the ball when Bebeto Cerezo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Xavantes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Delfim Lucas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delfim Lucas in the 78th minute of play forced Maracas's goalkeeper Cesinha Messias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 78th match minute, Maracas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Pedro Machado to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute Xavantes were awarded a corner.
